Conference Preparation

Delegations should begin their preparations for the Annual Session of MUNFW by conducting research on the following topics: the United Nations, their assigned country, agenda items, and committee procedures.

Background Guides, which provide information and additional resources for understanding the topics under discussion in each committee, can be accessed by clicking the names of the committees listed below. Background Guides are published on November 1 prior to each session.

Please note that Security Council issues (and the subject of this committee’s policy statements) are selected by individual delegates based on the national priorities of the country they are representing. Delegates are encouraged to review the current agenda of the United Nations Security Council to assist with topic selection.

MUNFW Rules of Procedure

Preparation should also include learning the rules of procedure and practicing diplomatic skills, including public speaking and negotiation. Delegates should work with their country teams to adequately prepare in these areas prior to conference. Working cohesively as a delegation is helpful during preparation and is essential at the Annual Session of MUNFW.

Pre-Conference Documents

MUNFW requires the submission of policy documents prior to conference. Delegations are required to submit a country profile, policy statements, and draft resolutions. These written materials provide the basis for delegate evaluation and the selection of conference awards. Pre-conference documents can be submitted through the ‘Submit Docs’ link in the website’s main menu.
