The 75th Annual Session
MODEL UNITED NATIONS OF THE FAR WEST
THIS YEAR'S SESSION
Model United Nations of the Far West (MUNFW) was established in 1951 and is one of the oldest Model United Nations conferences in the world. As MUNFW celebrates its milestone 75th Session, we join the global community in honoring the enduring legacies of organizations founded to promote peace, justice, and development on an international scale.
The 75th Session’s theme, 75 Years of Diplomacy, Dialogue, and Development: Sustaining the Spirit of the United Nations, reflects both our historical roots and our forward-looking mission. Taking place from April 17–21, 2026, in San Francisco, this landmark session's agenda acknowledges the significant anniversaries of impactful UN bodies: 80 years of UNICEF and CSW, 75 years of UNHCR, 65 years of WFP, and 60 years of UNDP. Agenda topics include the Responsibility to Protect, Artificial Intelligence for sustainable development, misinformation and its impact on democratic policies, women's political participation and leadership, and reforming the United Nations Charter. Please consult the official agenda for a complete list of represented committees and agenda topics.
The 75th Session will be hosted by the faculty and students of Whittier College and its consortium partners. We warmly invite delegates, alumni, and guests to connect in a once-in-a-generation gathering. Join us in celebrating MUNFW and honoring the past; energizing the present; and inspiring the future diplomacy, dialogue, and development.
Special Announcement
We are especially honored to announce that the 75th Session’s Opening Plenary and a special meet-and-greet with distinguished alumni will take place in the historic Herbst Theatre at the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House, in the very room where the Charter of the United Nations was signed in 1945.
